Berlin, July 29th 2010. Once city, two musicians, three languages: There’s no better
way to describe this multicultural project from the two Berlin Rappers Knightstalker and Le First.
Both born and bred in the German capital, they’re not only bonded through their native language
but also through their love for other countries and their forms of Hip-Hop music.Today marks
the release of the English-French project by the two MCs:an 8-song Free-EP named “Lost in Translation”
The title of the “Lost in Translation” EP describes how Le First and Knightstalker feel as
non-German-rapping MCs in the local music scene. Le First, whose father is of French heritage,
spits his bars in French, non-compliant to the German mainstream. Knightstalker is dealing with
the US-American Hip-Hop culture since his early days and hence the language became
second nature to him so that it’s only natural tha the is kicking his rhymes in English for years now.
Thus, nobody should be surprised that the EP sounds sometimes more,
sometimes less like French or US rap music.
The guests on this project are the French heavyweights Casus Belli (Foolek Records) and Falgas.
The German underground-miracle Liquit Walker comes by for a surprise appearance on
the song “Serious Shit”, where he raps in three languages! The beats come courtesy of
an international production team: Romeo (Germany), MIR (Spain), DJ Danetic
(Germany) and Tumor aka Two-More Beatz (Switzerland).
Le First and Knightstalker will be performing tracks taken from the
“Lost In Translation” EP at Berlin’s #1 Hip-Hop festival, the Graffitibox
Summer Jam, taking place @ the Yaam/Berlin, August 7th.
Artist Information
Knightstalker, born and bred in the south-west of Germany’s capital Berlin, got in touch with
rap music for the first time in the mid-nineties. Fascinated by the rhymes, flows and
beats of east and west coast artists alike, he soon fell in love with the art form called Hip-Hop.
A couple of years later, motivated by his people, he decided to “get his grind on” and started penning
bars on his own. And although German Rap was and is on a steady rise he made the decision to write his
lyrics strictly in English because he feels more comfortable in expressing his self this way.
By growing up in the borough of Neukölln, Knightstalker learned at an early age what it means
to live in a borough with a high crime and unemployment rate. Besides dealing with those
socio-political topics he adds his own little twist of modern day battle rap and storytelling to the
mix! Knightstalker is also part of the German End Of The Weakas both judge
and member of the organization crew.
LE FIRST, Le Produit de Berlin–that’s how the German-French Rapper describes himself.
Born and bred in Berlin, he speaks the language of his second home France in his songs.
His musical career began very early at the age of six when joining a choir. With advancing
age the musical priorities shifted and the theatre and opera stages got traded for the underground
of the German Hip-Hop scene. By the age of 14,he started recording his first tracks in English,
French and German. In 2006, Le First released his bilingual street album “Zwischen den Fronten/
Entre les Fronts”. After that release, Le First began focusing strictly on spitting in French
and became a regular guest on various Berlin underground albums and mixtapes.
MC and label mate (Disstrict Music) of Berlin Rapper Liquit Walker.
