Big L – The Danger Zone 2011

Lamont Coleman (May 30, 1974 – February 15, 1999), better known
by his stage name Big L, was an American rapper. Coleman was born
and raised in Harlem, New York, where he started his rap career with
Three the Hard Way. He founded the group Children of the Corn and was
a member of the Diggin’ in the Crates Crew before pursuing a solo career.
His first professional appearance came on Lord Finesse’s, Yes You May
(Remix). He released his debut album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous
in 1995, and significantly contributed to the underground hip hop scene.
He created his own independent label, Flamboyant Entertainment,
in 1998 where he released one of his best
known singles “Ebonics” (1998).

On February 15, 1999, Coleman was killed by an unknown assailant
in a drive-by shooting in his hometown of Harlem. Suspects, including
the main suspect Gerald Woodley, were brought in for questioning, but
no one was found guilty. His second studio album, The Big Picture
was put together by Coleman’s manager, Rich King. It was
released the following year and certified gold by the
Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Since his death, three posthumous albums have released,
mainly consisting of unreleased songs which were put together
by Rich King and his brother, Donald. Multiple tributes have
been giving to Coleman, including in The Source, MTV,
and HipHop DX. A documentary is in the works titled
Street Struck: The Big L Story (2012). About.com
called him the seventeenth best MC of all time,
and multiple writers at Allmusic have
given him high praise.

The Danger Zone, is the third posthumous album by American hip hop
artist Big L, released May 31, 2011 on RBC Records. L’s brother Donald Phinazee
produced most of the album and other production came from DJ Phantom. The album
was originally announced on April 12, 2011, and features artists such as
Gang Starr, O.C., Herb McGruff, A.G., Roc Raida, Lord Finesse as well
as other D.I.T.C. members. It is the second album that contains
unreleased and unheard tracks and freestyles.

The album received positive reviews and
Andres Vasquez calls the album a “must have”.

Memphis, Tennessee who was previously known as Lil Yo.

Live from the Kitchen, is the upcoming debut studio album by
American hip hop artist Yo Gotti, set to be released on
January 10, 2012 after several delays. It will be released
from RCA Records, due to his former label, J Records,
being shut down by Sony Music Entertainment,
along with Arista Records, and Jive Records.

Marcus Hopson, better known by his stage name Hopsin,
is an American rapper, music video director, hip hop producer
and actor from Panorama City, Los Angeles, California. Hopsin
became notoriously known for his white contact lenses. His music
videos gained moderate to high popularity on YouTube. He was
signed to Eazy E’s record label Ruthless Records in 2007,
and has since founded his own record label Funk Volume.

Hopsin received acclamations in hip hop magazines and
Internet publications, and was described as the new face of
West Coast hip hop. He has spoken out against mainstream rap’s
positive portrayal of alcohol and drugs and often takes shots
at mainstream rappers in his songs. Hopsin’s style has been
compared to that of early Eminem records and has said that
Eminem and Michael Jackson were his biggest inspirations.

RAW, is the second studio album released by the rapper Hopsin.
It was put on iTunes on November 19th, 2010. It was released on
Funk Volume. On the song, Sag My Pants, Hopsin disses mainstream
rappers Drake, Soulja Boy, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross.
He also disses the widowed wife of Eazy-E, Tomica Wright, vowing
that he’ll make sure no one signs with Ruthless Records again.

In a 2011 interview with Australian Street-Lifestyle publication
ACCLAIM Magazine, Hopsin stated that although the RAW project is
done with for now he may go back and produce music videos for
the album just to give to his fans later in to his career.

Brandon McCartney (born August 17, 1989), known by his stage
name Lil B or “The BasedGod”, is a rapper from Berkeley, California.
He has recorded both solo and with the Pack. In addition, Lil B is
noted for his extensive use of social media Web sites such as
MySpace and Twitter to build an online following.

Lil B began rapping at age 16 with hip hop group the Pack.
After two locally successful mixtapes, and at the peak of the
Bay Area’s hyphy movement, the group’s song “Vans” became a surprise hit.
The song was ranked as the fifth best of 2006 by Rolling Stone magazine.
The strength of “Vans” led the group to release Skateboards 2 Scrapers,

Mistah F.A.B.. In 2007, Lil B and the Pack released
its first album, Based Boys

Lil B released his first studio album, Angels Exodus,
on January 18, 2011, through Amalgam Digital.
